Summer weather conditions have well and truly arrived. Heatwave conditions, rain and storms, hail, high humidity and gusty winds. For those on water tanks, it’s great to have had some rain to top up this vital resource. It’s always a good time to mulch after rain if you have the opportunity. Watching the weather is a bit like taking a lottery ticket! We’re not sure what the odds are at any point in time of getting an accurate forecast, rain or storms. We often don’t know what we’re getting till it happens. So I try to be prepared as much as possible.
For those of you interested, I’ve put together a list of 75 drought tolerant food crops for dry climates.
In the attached PDF, I share some seasonal growing tips for our local climate, what to plant, a few issues to consider and garden tasks for this time of year. I hope you find it helpful. Dig in!
Happy gardening and festive season, Anne
